Early Fraternity Life and Career
Emily decided to attend East Carolina University due to its relatively low tuition cost, close proximity to home, and its great Music Program. Initially, Emily was intending on majoring in Music-Vocal Performance. After auditions with the music department at East Carolina University, Emily decided to drop Music and replace it with Communication. During the fall of Emily's sophomore year, she auditioned to become a member of the Magnolia Belles, an all female a cappella group sponsored by the East Carolina Alumni Association. While in the Magnolia Belles she heard about Phi Sigma Pi from a fellow Belle, Melanie Carviou (Beta Phi Initiate Class), and was interested in this organization. She became Secretary of the Magnolia Belles during her fall semester of junior year and also received the email about becoming a part of Tau Chapter. Upon attending the first informational meeting that semester, Emily was able to see the outstanding fellowship, great passion, and rich history of Tau Chapter. It was right then and there that Emily decided to join Phi Sigma Pi. That semester, Emily was pinned in the Gamma Alpha Initiate Class. Months later, Emily was inducted as a Tau Brother.
