Collegiate Years at Epsilon Alpha Chapter
Bret is currently one of three Alumni Advisors of the Epsilon Alpha Chapter. As an undergraduate, Bret served as the Chapter President and Vice President. He has also in the been the Social Committee Chair, the floating Homecoming Committee Chair, and served on the floating Risk Management Committee. He is also a certified Local Module Facilitator for Leadership in Action.
As Chapter President, Bret restructured the way the Executive Board has been put together for the previous ten years. Working to meet the fluidity of the membership numbers, Bret cut and merged Officer positions at the Epsilon Alpha Chapter. Previously, there was a Recording Secretary, a Corresponding Secretary, and a Standards Advisor. Bret merged the two secretary positions and delegated miscellaneous duties to other Officers, such as the Parliamentarian and President. Standards are also now kept and monitored by the Chapter Secretary.
As Chapter Vice President, Bret headed the merging and dissolving of a handful of Epsilon Alpha's permanent committees. He merged the Rush, Initiate, Public Relations, and Internet Public Relations committee into one committee, the Recruitment and Initiation committee. This committee is co-chaired by the Recruitment Advisor, the Initiate Advisor, as well as a Public Relations chair. He dissolved the Philanthropy Development committee. Now, the Service and Fundraising committees work together to ensure that the Chapter is devoted time and charity to our national philanthropy, Teach for America. The Fundraising committee donated 30% of all proceeds directly to Teach for America, and the Service committee has at least one Teach for America specific community service event per semester.
Bret was the National Chapter Delegate for Grand Chapter in 2011 in Washington DC. He has also attended East Region Conferences at Alpha Theta at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
