The Year 1966 in review for Phi Sigma Pi.

1966

  • Grand Chapter meetings are changed to annual meetings, starting in the fall of 1966.
  • In keeping with the 1962 National Convention decision to include students of all majors at liberal arts colleges and universities, Phi Sigma Pi Professional Educational Fraternity officially becomes Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity under the leadership of National President Abram Foster. The break from teachers and teacher-training institutions was complete.
  • In the hopes that the change to an honor fraternity for all majors would stop the decline of the fraternity, the National Council mails out letters to over 450 four-year colleges and universities in hopes of expanding the fraternity, but nothing materializes.

February

  • February 14 - Phi Sigma Pi celebrates its 50th anniversary.

December

  • December 3 - Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
