2009 National Convention

The 2009 National Convention was held in Louisville, Kentucky, from August 5-9, 2009. The event was also host of the annual Grand Chapter Conference.

Grand Chapter Conference

The 2009 Grand Chapter Conference was held on August 6-7 during National Convention in Lousiville, KY. At this conference, the Grand Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi considered several broad-reaching amendment proposals to the National Constitution. Of particular note:

Announcements

2009 National Convention, August 2009
  • A new National Council position, the Vice President of Philanthropy Development was created.
  • Alumni Delegates were granted full voting status at Grand Chapter.
  • National Constitution Article IV was reorganized for clarity and consistency and the term Collegiate Member was adopted in lieu of "Active Member".
  • The Grand Chapter adopted a resolution to recognize Helen Wilson of Kappa Chapter as the first female honoree, following the discovery of new documentation.
  • Making Our Own Rules (Leadership Through Service) Fund-The establishment of this Fund was announced to the Brotherhood Saturday during the awards banquet (August 8). This fund was created to provide grants back to the Fraternity for our philanthropic efforts such as our Alternative Break Project, Phi Sigma Pi Teachers Grants and the Phi Sigma Pi Student Essay Contest.
  • Brothers Josh and Britt Marder endorsed the fund by offering to match each gift made to the fund up to $4,000 and then adding an additional $10 for each new gift made to this fund.
  • Teach For America Alternative Break Project (ABP)- The host location for the 2010 ABP was revealed as Atlanta, GA.
