Alpha Tau Chapter (Founded 13 November 1991) is located at Howard University in Washington, DC. The Chapter was founded by Chapter alumnus Derek Simmons and is a member of the Capital Region.

Chapter History

Founding

Alpha Tau is the first chapter founded at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

Early Years

The Active Chapter

Alpha Tau's ranks consist of numerous winners of the Mr. and Miss Howard University Homecoming Pageant, leaders of student organizations and community activists. Their consistent efforts for the betterment of the Howard University community and beyond were recognized at the 2004 Bison Ball, where they were named “Fraternity of the Year.”

Alpha Tau Chapter Endowment Fund

The Endowment Fund was created on August 8, 2007. The fund uses corporate sponsorship and fundraising to financially assist students within the community through scholarships. The Endowment Fund has a board of directors consisting of undergraduate and alumni brothers of Alpha Tau.

Regional Conference

In 2004, Alpha Tau hosted the Mid-Atlantic/Capitol Conference Regional Convention entitled "Da B.O.M.B - Building Others and Molding Brothers.” The regional convention was an overwhelming success with more than 150 brothers in attendance. The chapter was awarded the "Best Regional Event" in honor of its hard work.
