In 2004, the 40th Empowered Council created the ground work to start organizing annual Alumni Conventions. With the help of the Bay Area Alumni Association a pilot Alumni Convention was successfully organized and hosted in Reno, Nevada. In 2004, after the National Council transition, the 41st Empowered Council agreed to follow through with the previous council's work and planned the first Alumni Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.
