Beta Mu Chapter (Founded 23 February 1994) is located at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. The Chapter was founded by Derek Simmons and is a member of the Capital Region.

Chapter History

Founding

The Beta Mu Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi was founded by Derek Simmons in February 1994. Alpha Tau Chapter at Howard is the grandfather chapter and Rho at the University of the District of Columbia. Beta Mu recently celebrated its 15th year on the campus of The George Washington University.

Early Years

The first class, Genesis, was made up of Matt Kolodny, Jason Burdette, Guatam Gulati, Jeanne Lowiec, Sun Soorya, and Diana Rubin.

The Active Chapter

The current chapter has 43 active brothers and 4 brothers abroad. The current Spring 2010 Alpha Kappa Initiate class has 21 members.

Chapter Events & Activities

Throughout the semester, there are a variety of events run by the different committees. Brothers who attend these events earn points. In order to complete the Brother expectations and remain a Brother in good standing, Brothers must earn 45 points, with a specific amount coming from Rush, PR, Initiate, Scholarship, Fellowship, Leadership, and Fundraising events.
