Bowling

Event Type: Social Event

Startup Cost: For the bowling event, the Gamma Mu Chapter pays for the rushees to bowl at least one game, and for their shoes so there is no monetary pressure put on them. This way they can relax and focus on meeting new people.

Time required: The event itself usually lasts 1.5 hours. This gives everyone plenty of time to bowl and chat with new people and ask any questions they may have.

Resources required: A bowling alley

Materials required: None.

Event Summary: For some time, the Brothers at the Gamma Mu Chapter has been struggling with getting males to rush. In order to help, we decided that we needed more gender neutral activities. One of the activities that resulted from this was bowling. This allowed all different people to come together and not feel secluded or awkward. It also allowed for a lot of casual conversation in which the Brothers could get to know the potential initiates.

Steps:

  • Set a date.
  • Reserve the room.
  • Be sure to include the time, date, and location on the rush packets.
