Brian Carlin graduated from St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio in 2002. After high school, he enrolled at Michigan State University, where he eventually chose the major of Interdisciplinary Humanities and chose to concentrate in Theatre, Spanish and Psychology. In his junior year in the fall of 2004, he met a brother while taking a Spanish course and an initiate while working as a night receptionist in his dorm. After hearning about their experiences in the chapter, Brian went to the information nights and then rushed Phi Sigma Pi after getting to know the brothers in the chapter. He was inducted in April of 2005 as a member of the Upsilon class.

Brian never held an elected position in the Beta Sigma chapter, but devoted a great deal of his time to helping out with events and contributing to the continued development of the chapter. He served on the Fundraising and Risk Management committees. Brian assisted as a midway course aid with Beta Sigma's Pi Mile, an annual run on the MSU campus that raises money local Lansing area non-profit and youth organizations. While serving on the Risk Management committee he helped coordinate Beta Sigma's booth at the MSU Relay for Life. He served on the new member committee for the Phi and Chi classes. Brian also attended the National Convention in Atlanta. He graduated in Spring of 2006 as an Upsilon.

While in graduate school, Brian made several trips back to his chapter for Alumni Tailgate, the Interchapter Weekend, and class inductions. After graduating in 2007, Brian found employment in the Philadelphia area and relocated. Since then, his chances to return to Beta Sigma have been limited, but he plans on making more visits in the future. After moving to Philadelphia, he joined the Delaware Valley Alumni chapter where he currently serves as Scholarship Chair. Brian has attended several chapter events, including the D.V.A.C. alumni Reading Phillies game, the alumni weekend in Atlantic City, and Jay Kern's Pig Roast. He also attended Philly Cup in November 2008. In the fall of 2008, Brian assisted with the founding of the Epsilon Tau chapter at Villanova University.

Though Brian lives deep in Penn State territory, he still bleeds Spartan green and catches every football and basketball he can. He is also a member of the MSU Alumni Association of Greater Philadelphia.

Brian also studied at the Summer Program at USC School of Cinematic Arts where he directed five short films and used the skills learned to film a documentary that was part of his Senior Seminar in Theatre.

Brian Carlin (born June 8, 1983) is an Alumni Member of Beta Sigma Chapter (Beta Sigma #444) at Michigan State University. He is also a member of the Delaware Valley Alumni Chapter and serves on the National Development Committee.
