Capture the Flag
Event Type: Campus-wide Capture the Park (Capture the Flag)

Planning required: From January to mid-April intense preparation for Capture the Park 2007 took place involving multiple committees and the bulk of Delta Xi Chapter. As the date approached we knew that something special was going to occur on April 21, the day of the event. Fundraising was able to gain sponsors for the event, Public Relations was able to get the word out with flyers, registration tables, and newspaper ads, and Service was hard at work figuring out the logistics and preparation for the event. It truly was a collaboration of Delta Xi as a whole which resulted in a much more effective and efficient preparation.

Event Summary: Over 90 people showed up to show their support for our philanthropy, socialize, and compete. The event can be summed up by what was overheard from a non-Phi Sigma Pi participant as she said, “There should be a capture the flag club on campus! This is awesome!” As ten teams of seven players competed for sponsors’ prizes the competition was furious! A bake sale took place near the registration table as well as people playing Frisbee, potato sack races, and socializing which all contributed to the laid back and entertaining atmosphere. At the end of the four hour event, over $140 was raised for Teach For America.
