Chris Miller is an alumnus of Beta Chapter, and currently serves on their Alumni Advisory Board. From 2003 until 2007, he served on the the National Communications and Technology Committee. He is also known as the co-founder of the once-popular Phi Sigma Pi Forums.

Early Fraternity Life and Career

Chris entered Truman State in the Fall of 2000, as an undeclared major. As a freshman, he declared Biology, then later added a second degree in Computer Science.

Chris rushed in Spring 2001, after being invited by then-rush chair Brady Miller. Though skeptical at first about all the requirements of initiate season, he quickly grew to love his brothers and the organization that bound them together.

Collegiate Years at Beta

Chris served in several positions during his years at Beta

  • Initiate Advisor (2002-2003)
  • Corresponding Secretary (2003-2004)
  • Webmaster (2002-2004)

Chris was named Brother of the Year for the 2001-2002 year. He was also awarded Beta Chapter's third Chapter Service Key in 2004.

After attending the 2001 National Convention in St. Louis, Chris was hooked on PSP road-trips. Notable trips include several WICKED events, Gamma Theta's Mardi Gras, four National conventions, and two Grand Chapters. In addition, Chris went on two spring break trips to the east coast. On the first trip, they stayed with brothers in Delaware, Pittsburgh, York, PA, Philadephia and Washington D.C. On the second, they were hosted by brothers in Clemson, SC, and Washington D.C. Both were amazing experiences.

Alumni Years to Present

Chris took advantage of Beta Chapter's old Early Alumni policy, which allowed students in their 5th year to claim alumni status with the chapter. Since he was staying in Kirksville to finish his degree, he was very involved with the chapter during his first year as an alumni.

After leaving Truman in 2005, Chris moved to Houston, and now attends graduate school at Baylor College of Medicine. He is working on his PhD in the area of bioinformatics and human genomics. Moving to Texas has made it difficult to attend Beta Chapter events, but he stays in contact through emails and the chapter's heavily-trafficked message board.

In March 2008, Chris married fellow Beta Chapter alumnae Heather Bemis.

National Involvement

Chris served on the National Communications and Technology Committee from 2003 until 2007. He continues to offer advice (both solicited and unsolicited) to National Council and Staff.
