Movie Night

Watch a controversial movie and then debate about it afterwards. Not only will you get to enjoy watching a movie with your Brothers (fellowship) you will also learn a lot about other people’s viewpoints (scholarship).

NYMAAC - Page and Popcorn

The New York Metropolitan Area Alumni Chapter (NYMAAC) has a regular movie and book night where interested members read a pre-selected book and then watch the film version and host a discussion group on the two. Recently they featured the Manchurian Candidate, viewing both the 1962 and 2004 versions of the film.

Service Projects

Ask someone from your community group you are doing volunteer work with to come in and talk to the chapter about the cause. For instance invite a local health clinic volunteer to come visit a Chapter meeting and discuss AIDS. Not only will it energize the Brothers to continue participating in your possible AIDS related service projects (leadership) it will also teach them about a very serious virus that affects us all (scholarship).

Delta Alpha Chapter - Karen's Walk

Karen's Walk1 is a 5K Run/Walk that sponsors heart failure research in memory of Karen Decker. Delta Alpha established the Karen Decker Cardiomyopathy Fund at the University of Rochester Medical Center after a friend of the fraternity passed away from postpartum cardiomyopathy, a form of heart failure. This year they are bringing in guest speakers from the medical community at University of Rochester as part of a lecture event to better inform the public about cardiomyopathy and the research being done to find a cure.

Pot-luck Dinner

Organize a pot-luck dinner (fellowship) and ask Brothers to share their favorite ethnic recipes (scholarship).

Valentines Day Cards

Hold a Valentine making party (fellowship) and deliver the cards to a local senior-citizens’ home (Leadership).

Book Clubs

Host a book club (Scholarship) and ask Brothers to bring a book to donate to a local school (Leadership).
