Hayden was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph Hayden III and Rita Denise Hayden (nee: Pullom). She has one brother, Joseph Alexander Hayden, the first Joseph in the family with a middle name. Danielle excelled in school and got straight-A's. She also won many contests in school, and was involved in ballet and the school band, where she played the saxophone (first inspired by Lisa Simpson).
