Delta Phi Chapter Service Events

Fall 2010

• Southside Community Center Donations: The Delta Phi chapter gathered clothes, cans, and hygienic products to give to the Southside Community Center. While the chapter gathered a good amount of things to donate,not enough members actually participated for it to be considered successful.

• Animal Shelter- Rabies Clinic: The San Marcos Animal Shelter holds a day where discounted rabies shots are given, along with a chance to have your animal certified. The Delta Phi Chapter got together and helped the shelter set up, sign-up, and take down the event in the end.

• Habitat for Humanity: The Delta Phi Chapter got together and helped out with Habitat for Humanity. The Chapter picked up trash around the site, cut poles to create a fence, and helped fence off trees. They also finished caulking the siding on the house.

• Adopt-A-Spot: In the fall the Delta Phi Chapter adpoted the spot along the highway by the San Marcos Activity Center and Library. The brothers go there and pick up trash and recycle-ables to keep San Marcos Green.

• Sights and Sounds: San Marcos' annual Christmas festival is called Sights and Sounds. The members of the Delta Phi Chapter helped out with the concession stand and helped serve hot chocolate, apple cider, and other beverages. They also passed out information pamphlets to entering guest, and bracelets for children in case they became lost.

• City of San Marcos Christmas Party: The members of the Delta Phi Chapter volunteered to help with a dance in San Marcos which led to the City of San Marcos asking them to come back and help with a party for the employees and their families. Brothers ran a crafts station, a letters to Santa station, and they helped with a puppet show. When it was all over Brother's helped clean up.

Spring 2010

• Relay for Life: The Brothers of the Delta Phi Chapter got together and raised money for Relay for Life. The members then stayed up all night and took turns walking the tracks.

• Bobcat Build: This year at Bobcat Build the Delta Phi Brothers were so numerous the group was separated into two groups. Half the members went off and helped paint a house, while the other half went off and helped weed and clean a field for a church.

• Slice of Pie, for School Supplies: To help help our National Philanthropy Teach for America the Delta Phi Chapter hosted a school supply drive. Members brought either cash or school supplies in exchange for pizza slices.
