Emily decided to attend East Carolina University due to its relatively low tuition cost, close proximity to home, and its great Music Program. Initially, Emily was intending on majoring in Music-Vocal Performance. During the fall of Emily's sophomore year, she auditioned to become a member of the Magnolia Belles, an all female a cappella group sponsored by the East Carolina Alumni Association. Emily hopes to, upon graduation intended to be in the Fall 2012 Semester, attend Graduate School to get her Master's in Public Health. After receiving her Master's, Emily would like to pursue a career in a non-profit organization that is centralized on AIDS. She would also like to work somewhere, where her skills in speaking Spanish will be used frequently, i.e. Miami, FL.

During this time she felt a need to move beyond DCI and went to pursue a degree in graduate school in Perth, Western Australia (WA). In 2018, she spent a year in WA earning her Graduate Diploma in Sexology at Curtin University. Since 2019, she returned stateside and has been working at Cisco Systems, Inc. as an HR Representative for the US and Canada offboarding processes.
