Academically, Emily entered the university as an "undecided" major. She enrolled in the general freshman engineering courses (tDEC), and started talking to many different department advisors. She settled on Chemical Engineering after the department advisor told her that with a ChemE degree, she could really pursue a career in any field.

She attended one of the rush events held by the Chapter, but did not take the event seriously and was not extended a bid. Collegiate Years at Gamma Xi
Emily was elected Recording Secretary for the 2007-2008 school year. She also served as the Awards Committee Chair for the Fall 2007 and Winter 2008 terms.
Emily was recently elected President for the 2008-2009 school year.
