Initiate Advisor
The role of the Initiate Advisor is one of great responsibility in educating and looking after prospective Members. It can also be quite rewarding. The following document is a guideline to help you have a successful term as the Initiate Advisor.

Responsibilities of the Initiate Advisor
The National Constitution outlines the responsibilities of the Initiate Advisor as follows:
- Be responsible for reviewing and updating the Initiation Program of the Chapter;
- Be responsible for maintaining and upholding the integrity of the Initiation Program of the Chapter in relation to the rules of the sheltering institution, and any rules established by the Chapter;
- Be responsible for the planning and implementation of the Initiation Program approved by the Members of the Chapter at the meeting prior to the first meet night held by the Chapter;
- Report Initiation Activities and send a complete detailed description of the Initiation Program to the National Office by the specified due dates;
- Be responsible for ensuring that all newly inducted members be taught the fraternal grip and word;
- Be a voting Member of the Executive Board.
About the Initiate Advisor
Dual Initiate Advisors
Some Chapters have dual or co-Initiate Advisors. The roles can be split by work load, by seniority for mentoring, or just over lap for continuity.
Mentoring Roles
In cases of seniority a Chapter may elect an older Brother and a newer Brother, sometimes from the most recent Initiate Class, who shadows or learns the role. This may or may not be a pre-cursor to the newer Brother to then serve in the more senior role during a later term.
Overlapping Roles
In overlapping roles a Chapter may decide to elect two Initiate Advisors but stagger their terms. This may be accomplished by having one Advisor serve for an academic term (fall to spring semester or quarter) while the other serves for a calendar year term (spring to fall semester or quarter). This is done to ensure the office is properly transitioned as well as doubling the capacity for such an important role.
