Iota Chapter (Founded 26 April 1930) is located at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. The Chapter was founded by Chapter alumnus Name and is a member of the Central Pennsylvania Region.

Chapter History

Founding

The Iota chapter of Phi Sigma Pi was founded on April 26, 1930, at Bloomsburg State Teachers College now known as Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. The founding members were Thomas North and Edward Reams who were faculty at the institution. David H. Baker was the first student.

Early Years

In 1930, there were seventeen members. A year following founding, twenty-four brothers were inducted. The president of the college, Francis B. Hass was named as the chapter’s first honorary brother. In 1931 [May 5], Iota Chapter was responsible for chartering the Omicron Chapter at Shippensburg University.

The Active Chapter

In the Fall 2015 semester Emily Herman transferred from Mansfield University Theta Chapter to Bloomsburg University to find that the Iota chapter was inactive. With the help of National Staff, the first class (Alpha) inducted 37 brother one of which was Dr. Caryn Terwilliger, one of the chapter's advisors who was inducted as an Honorary Brother. The first chapter president is Rachel Gwinn.
