National Involvement

Alumni Advocacy

As an advocate for Alumni rights within Phi Sigma Pi he introduced a constitutional amendment at the 2006 Grand Chapter Conference granting Alumni delegates equal voting rights in all national elections. Then at the 2007 Grand Chapter Conference he introduced the amendment creating NAA delegate representation at Grand Chapter. Finally at the 2009 Grand Chapter Conference he introduced a constitutional amendment granting Alumni delegates full and equal voting rights.

National Council Transparency

Jonah has introduced and overseen the passage of several proposals intended to create transparency between National Council and the Brotherhood.

  • To increase awareness of actions taken by National Council he passed a motion requiring the publishing of minutes within 30 days of each Council meeting.
  • In the fall of 2006 he passed a proposal to create the Phi Sigma Pi Wiki.
  • He lead the effort to publish all Council objectives and regular status updates on the wiki for anyone to track Council progress. This is intended to be a method to archive Council goals as well as document the progress made on each goal during each Council's term.
  • He opened National Council meetings to public attendance and later live video streams to allow the Brotherhood to see their National Council operating.

Sanction Appeal Board

In 2006 he helped bring a proposal to the Grand Chapter to formally create a Sanction Appeal Board that provided an opportunity for a board compromised of Brothers to review sanction decisions of the National Council. Prior to this sanctions went back to the same National Council that imposed them for review.

Inclusion Advocacy

During 2013-14 Jonah worked with the National Development Committee on a series of projects with the mission to make Phi Sigma Pi a more inclusive environment for all Brothers and prospective Members.

  • Brought the Gender Inclusion Resolution to the 2014 Grand Chapter Conference to adopt the "gender inclusive Fraternity" language and changes to national materials, moving away from the former use of the binary phrase "co-ed Fraternity"
    • He worked with Jessica Pettitt, a renown diversity consultant, to craft language based on higher education policies relating to gender inclusion
  • Presented amendments that ensure accessibility is a requirement for host venues for all National Events as well as requiring all mandatory Chapter events provide reasonable accommodations for all attendees with disabilities
