Joseph Torchia (D Month 1909 - 14 November 1982) is an Alumni Member of Sigma Chapter (Σ 296) at Millersville University. He is the namesake of the Joseph Torchia Outstanding Chapter Award, presented annually to the top chapter(s) in the country.

Joseph Torchia was one of the two most dedicated National Officers Phi Sigma Pi has ever seen. He was also employed as an associate professor of education from 1946 to 1975. While teaching he did extensive tutoring, including teaching speed reading to individuals and business groups.
