Leyna Belinsky (born November 30, 1984) is an Alumni Member of H (846) at IUP, Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Early Fraternity Life and Career

I decided to attend IUP because it was the only state school in Pennsylvania that had interior design as a major. I began as interior design and then switched over to communications media. I hated my first semester at IUP. I was ready to transfer. I decided to stick it out the entire year and I ended up rushing Phi Sigma Pi the following semester. If I wouldn't have gotten a bid, I would have transfered schools.

In my Initiate Class I served as class secretary. I loved every second of my Initiation and I appreciate all the my Initiate Adviser taught me. He made me the Brother I am today. Thanks Mike.

Collegiate Years at IUP

After becoming a Brother I knew I would be one of those kids who wanted to do everything. My first year I served as co-chair of the Scholarship Committee with Darcee. It was a great position to ease me into the Chapter.

The following year I served as Historian. I loved that position. It gave me a lot of creative freedom.

At the end of that year I had to make a decision. Run for President or Initiate Adviser. I wanted IA, but I had a lot of pressure to run for President. I ran for President and won. My final year as an undergrad I was President of Eta Chapter. I was so honored that I was chosen.

We won our Homecoming float competition the year I was president. It was a great moment for our Chapter. We beat all the social Greeks and it felt REALLY good.

I attended the 2006 Grand Chapter in Kansas City, the 2006 National Convention in DC, and 2007 National Convention in New Orleans. What happens in New Orleans STAYS in New Orleans. Right guys? I was delegate in Kansas City and Alternate in New Orleans.

Alumni Years to Present

I just became an alumna and it makes me REALLY sad. I miss everyone at IUP so much, especially the Chapter. I understand the role alumni need to play and I plan on being the best alumni I can be.

GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING THIS YEAR H!!!!!!!!!!

National Involvement

  • Grand Chapter 2006
  • National Convention 2006
  • Grand Chapter/Convention 2007

Bigs and Littles

Leyna's Big Brother is Courtney Lucas, who is now working as an accountant I believe. She taught me a lot about the National Fraternity. But the one thing I learned from her is that it is ok to go against what everyone else is doing. You don't always have to follow the crowd to fit in.

Leyna has 4 Little Brothers:

  • Tiffany, Alumnus
  • Lisa, Resigned
  • Sharlee, Resigned
  • Christi, Current Brother
