List of Gamma Omicron Chapter Awards

This is a list of Gamma Omicron Chapter Awards. The Chapter voted in the Spring of 2010 to create a group of awards that recognized those Brothers who have shown outstanding service to the Chapter. Each of these awards was voted on by Chapter members, and the award was named, by Chapter resolution, after the inaugural recipient of each. Additionally, in 2011, the Chapter passed a resolution establishing the Chapter Service Key as the premeir award and highest honor bestowed by the Chapter to any of its members. The first was presented in April 2011.


Chapter Serivce Key

(As quoted from the Chapter resolution) "The Chapter Service Key (CSK) is the highest honor a Chapter can bestow upon one of its members. This award is meant to be presented to Brothers/Alumni who have shown service not only above and beyond the call of duty, but also beyond any reasonable expectation. This extraordinary service can be in any area of the Chapter, but should leave a lasting impact on the Chapter’s growth and development. The CSK is open to any Active Brother or Alumnus. Nominees should exhibit the following characteristics:(1) service to the Gamma Omicron Chapter above any reasonable expectation,(2)an unwavering dedication to the Gamma Omicron Chapter, and (3) a true interest and commitment to the well-being and continuance of the Gamma Omicron Chapter. While service over the course of a single year may be extraordinary and would certainly meet the qualifications of this award, the CSK is generally viewed as recognition for a continued and extended contribution to the Chapter. The CSK is not an annual award. It is only presented when such merit is exhibited by an individual that warrants proper nomination. This is not a singular award. Multiples CSK’s may be awarded at any given time. The CSK may not be self-nominated. A Brother/Alumnus must be nominated by a fellow Brother/Alumnus for the CSK. If someone wishes to nominate an individual for a CSK, he or she must submit a written nomination to the Chapter President stating who is being nominated and their qualifications that make them deserving of the award. Once a Brother/Alumnus is nominated for the CSK, the nomination will be reviewed by the Executive Board. The Board will deliberate the nomination and will vote. A CSK nomination must pass a simple majority vote of the Board. If the nomination is approved, it will then come before the Chapter at the next regular Chapter meeting. For an individual to receive the CSK, he or she must then receive a 2/3 majority vote of the Active Brothers present at the Chapter meeting..."


William Brandon Smith Brother of the Year Award

The Brother of the Year Award is the premier award bestowed by the Chapter on an annual basis. This Brother must exemplify the ideals of Scholarship, Leadership, and Fellowship, and have shown tremendous service to the Chapter in its growth and development. Brothers receiving this award must be nominated by their peers and receive a majority of votes cast.


Heather Marie Hall Oustanding Executive Board Member Award

This award is presented to the officer who has, in the eyes of the Brothers, done the most in their term of service for the advancement of the Chapter. Each officer is eligible for the award.


Amanda Sharon Ennis Oustanding Executive Council Member Award

The Outstanding Executive Council Member Award is presented annually to the Committee Chair who has dedicated him- or herself to the advancement of their committee and its activities.
