Luigi Nuñez (08 August 1995) is a Collegiate Member of the Zeta Iota Chapter (ZI #117, Z #9) at Saint Joseph's University.

Early Fraternity Life and Career

Luigi knew since his Senior year at Camden Catholic High School that he wanted to join a fraternity. The tripod philosophy of Phi Sigma Pi appealed to him more than the social Greek Fraternities. Having come to college with getting extremely involved in mind, he knew he wanted to become a Brother of Phi Sigma Pi. Thus, he rushed Phi Sigma Pi in the spring of 2014, and the Brothers of the Zeta Iota Chapter gave him a bid. Luigi accepted and entered the Initiate process. Serving on the Initiate Social committee, Luigi came to truly understand the meaning of brotherhood through his unforgettable interactions with the Brothers and his fellow Initiates. On May 1st 2014, the chapter inducted Luigi as a Brother of Phi Sigma Pi.

Collegiate Years at Zeta Iota

During the Fall semester of 2014, Luigi initially served on the Fundraising Committee and handled communication with Landmark to enact a fundraiser at the restaurant. After a change in positions, Luigi was transferred to the Scholarship Committee and mc'ed a "Mole Day" quizzo event. Luigi is current working alongside other Brothers to create a "four year plan" for the Chapter. At the end of this semester, Luigi was elected to the Parliamentarian position for the 2015 term. During this semester, Luigi attended Philly Cup which was hosted by the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Temple University and Gamma Xi of Drexel University. He also has been interviewed by a handful of initiates from the Gamma Xi Chapter. Luigi's main goal concerning the fraternity is to bridge the gap between the nearby Chapters and promote inter-chapter interactions.

Luigi plans to graduate in May 2017 with Bachelor Degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science.

Luigi is a member of the Beta Alpha Mu Family. His big is Mark McShane. He currently holds BAM-BAM (refer to Beta Alpha Mu page).

Other Interesting Facts

Luigi is fluent in Spanish and moderately conversional in French. His parents migrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic, and Luigi is first generation American and first in his family to go to college.

Luigi has also visited Niagara Falls. He has participated on service trips to Taos, New Mexico; Chaparral, New Mexico; and Neon, Kentucky. He has participated and lead immersion trips to El Paso, Texas.

In addition to being a leader for SJU's Winter Immersion program, Luigi is also an elected Senator of the University Student Senate, of which he is the liaison with Information Technology and the Secretary of Mission; a leader of the university's Ignite Retreat; a Hawk Host, a tour guide for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions; the student representative in numerous university Advisory Committees; in the university's Honor program; and an athlete on the Club Water Polo team.
