From PhiSigmaPiWiki

Welcome to the Member Biography Project page. This project is the area to coordinate our efforts to create, maintain, and update Phi Sigma Pi Member Biographies. To learn how to create a biography page with templates skip to Getting Started.

Guidelines

Please check this page before undertaking a new biography (unless it is your own), since it may already exist, or could be under construction with another member of the Member Biography Development team (see below).

Getting Started

Start with yourself! Who knows you better than you? Creating a bio page is simple, but before you can edit, make sure you have set up a PhiSigmaPiWiki account. You need to be logged in to edit. After you have an account and are logged in, set up your page as follows:

  1. Type your name into the search box on the left hand side of the page, and you will get a search result telling you that the page does not exist. Choose to create the page.
  2. In your new page, type or copy/paste the following: {{subst:Member Bio Template}}
  3. Save the page. It should look like the Sample_Member page. Edit your new biography page to fill in your details.
  4. When finished, check to see that your page exists by searching on your name. You can also check the Categorical Index of all Member bios.

Adding a picture to your member infobox

  1. Click the 'Upload file' link in the toolbox area of the left sidebar.
  2. Hit the browse button and navigate to the file you have saved on your computer that you'd like to load. If you need to crop the image, do so before loading to the wiki. There are a variety of tools you can use to crop an image. MS Paint is a simple tool that does the job.
  3. The Destination filename will default to the Source filename. If the image you're loading has a generic title (e.g. Image24124.jpg, enter a more descriptive title in the Destination filename box (e.g. PeteGingrich.jpg). If you'd like to replace your picture with a new file in the future you can load it to the same destination filename, and your page will automatically be updated with the new image.
  4. Enter a summary if you'd like (e.g. your name and chapter) and then hit Upload file
  5. Copy the full name of your uploaded file (do not copy "Image:")
  6. Go to your member page on the wiki and hit edit
  7. In your member infobox on the "image =" line, add paste the full name of your file after the equal sign. Using the example filename above , this full line would then container image = PeteGingrich.jpg
