Intent: The intent behind this proposal is to provide further resources for Chapters and prospective members to ensure all parties are well informed of expectations. This proposal also establishes some National resources to allow the National Office to communicate directly with prospective members.

Chapter Requirements

  • Submit calendar or matrix of Initiate program events prior to the start of rush
    • Each event shall include a description of the activities and their purpose, approximate length of the event, and whether it is mandatory for Initiates and Brothers
      • Any events that are scheduled after pinning based on the availability of the Initiates (e.g.: weekly Initiate meetings, Initiate class planned tripod events) shall be noted with a tentative date to be determined by the Initiate class
    • schedule of all Initiate votes
      • All Chapters shall hold a minimum of a midway and final vote. For longer Initiate programs more frequent votes allowing Initiates to continue may be implemented.
      • Chapters shall only use a final vote to remove an Initiate from the program if they failed to meet the stated requirements
  • Submit an outline of all requirements for initiates including but not limited to: attendance, quiz and test scores, interviews, wearing of initiate pins and any other requirements that may impact the Chapter's decision on the prospective members
  • Submit initiate contact information, including email, mailing address and phone number (optional) to the office following pinning
  • Chapters shall have all prospective members complete their Form 20/21A prior to pinning. Any prospective member failing to sign a Form 20A or 21A shall be ineligible to continue in the Chapter's Initiate program and shall not be pinned. (This was included in the previous round of NOP amendments regarding forms 20/21/a)

Initiate Resources

  • Public calendar or matrix of Initiate program events available on the national site under each Chapter's portal
    • Prospective members shall acknowledge they have received both the initiate program calendar as well as the outline of chapter requirements
  • Regular communication from the National Office regarding expectations and policies
  • National contact information and website information to report any concerns

  • Public and prominent links to anti-hazing resources and our work to ensure safe environments for prospective members
  • Welcome letter discussing Phi Sigma Pi that initiates can opt their parents into receiving
