This proposal is to create a new National Award, Most Outstanding Alumni Chapter.

Most Outstanding Alumni Chapter

This award is intended to recognize an outstanding Phi Sigma Pi alumni chapter. This award would be announced at the 2011 National Convention and awarded at the 2012 National Convention.

Selection Process

Beginning in the 2012 award cycle, alumni chapters will be able to apply for the Most Outstanding Alumni Chapter award via an optional essay. The essay will be based on allowing the alumni chapter to submit supplemental information regarding why they feel they are the Most Outstanding Alumni Chapter, this essay may be submitted with the chapter's Form 530. National Staff will submit a slate nominees for this award to the awards selection committee concurrently with the nominees of the National Awards for the undergraduate chapters.

Rationale

Currently, there are no national awards that recognize solely the achievements of alumni organizations. Be creating an award for Most Outstanding Alumni Chapter, current alumni chapters will maintain or increase involvement to be awarded. Since this award will only be given to alumni chapters, this may also serve as an incentive for current alumni associations to convert to alumni chapters.
