Definition This is a proposal to change the name of the“Outstanding Regional Event” award to the more fitting “Outstanding Regional Conference” award. The Outstanding Regional Event Award is presented annually to the chapter or region with the most outstanding regional event. Traditionally, the award has been presented to Regional Conferences with the host chapter receiving the award. However, thru its title and definition, it is implied that any Chapter that hosts a “regional event” can receive this award and “Regional Event” is not specifically defined as a “Regional Conference.”

In changing the name to Outstanding Regional Conference, we should be able to eliminate any confusion with the award and clarify that the award are for those outstanding and exemplary Regional Conferences. This will further our goal to make Regions and Regional Conferences an integral part of the fraternity.

Purpose In changing the name to Outstanding Regional Conference, we will:

• Align the award with established precedence of Regional Conferences winning the award.
• Reiterate the importance of Regional Conferences within the National Fraternity
• Maintain Consistency in regards to our Regional Awards
• Eliminate any potential confusion with the award and clarify that the award is for those “Outstanding Regional Conferences.”

Implementation Upon Approval, the “Outstanding Regional Event” will be known as the “Outstanding Regional Conference.”
