The role of the Recruitment Advisor is one of great responsibility. It can also be quite rewarding. The following document is a guideline to help you have a successful term as the Recruitment Advisor. The Following Document quickly lists some tips for holding a successful information session.

Do

  • Look professional (no pajama pants)
  • Ask the prospectives to wear name tags
  • Require the Brotherhood to wear name tags
  • Offer food/snacks
  • Limit the number of speakers
  • Choose your best public speaker to be the “MC”
  • Make sure that each of the speakers is prepared with what will be said
  • Have both male and female Brothers speak (we are co-ed!)
  • Highlight the tripod

Don’t

  • Chew gum/eat while speaking
  • Tell inside jokes
  • Give a detailed history of Phi Sigma Pi
  • Decorate the room with feminine colors
  • Disrespect the National Fraternity
  • Be long-winded or disorganized
  • Rip on other organizations around campus (Fraternities, Sororites, etc; nobody likes an elitist)
  • Introduce the entire chapter and have them speak
  • Go on about how “it is such an amazing, incredible, wonderful, life-changing experience to be a brother” – they’ll figure it out!
