The most important thing about recruitment is – PUBLIC RELATIONS! “Get known” on campus and you’ll have your pick of prospectives. Stay a secret and you’ll be scraping for initiates. The secret to “getting known” on campus is to put your name (and our letters) in as many places as you can find. One of the many avenues for good PR is by advertising at campus/student organization fairs. Many chapters don’t advertise at campus/student organization fairs because they think they can’t afford it. Think again! Here are some tips and companies to help you to snag quality prospectives:

Develop a Theme

A theme is a great way to catch attention. You can use this on all of your promotional materials (posters, giveaways, websites, etc.)

  • Appropriate themes are short and catchy. They are positive and they highlight the great things about our fraternity. For example, using the tripod or highlighting the fact that we’re an honor fraternity is very appealing to most students.
  • Inappropriate themes are long or mean. For example, ripping on the Greeks, only showcasing sex & alcohol, and using inside jokes is inappropriate.

Staying Consistent

don’t give people too much to remember!

  • Use our media kit/branding materials. Building name recognition on campus is easier if you use a familiar logo.
  • Advertise the information night dates on everything. The more places people see the dates, the more likely they’ll be to put it on their calendars!
