Automation of Featured Page

Been meaning to write this up for a while now... The featured page will automatically rotate on a weekly basis. The page points to a template named FP_W_##_YYYY, where ## = the number of the week (1-52) and YYYY = the current year. So the current template is Template:FP_W_16_2024. This means that a new template will need to be created for each featured page (hopefully BEFORE the week in question) using this naming convention. For examples of what these templates should look like, go to Featured Content. FreshBoy 12:35, 4 April 2007 (EDT)

Is it possible to automate the Featured Content section to instead go to a page from the Most Linked, Most Revisions, or Random Page sections? --Matt Fong 10:34, 23 April 2008 (PDT)
The featured content page is now biweekly. The template has changed slightly to reflect this to a new format: FP_MM-YYYY_#, where # is either the first two weeks of the month or the second, as determined by the variable CURRENTWEEKMOD. So the current template is Template:FP_04-2024_. FreshBoy 10:43, 9 September 2008 (PDT)

Member Biography Project

I created a new Member Biography Project page, and linked to it from the Main Page. Someone who hasn't created a page for themselves yet, please give it a try, and make sure the instructions under Member Biography Project#Getting Started are clear. If this is a good working model, we can implement similar project pages for other things such as Chapter History, Resource Guides, etc. Note that the project page itself needs some work, but I wanted to make it as easy as possible for new users to create profiles. Feedback appreciated. FreshBoy 23:33, 16 March 2007 (EDT)

Templates

I added a new template for Stubs, based on Wikipedia's Stub Template. Please use this for any "shell page" we create by placing it in the first line of the page, so we can keep a handle on what's what. The Stub Template automatically adds the page to the Stubs Category, so there is no need to add a stub category tag to the page as well. FreshBoy 10:46, 15 March 2007 (EDT)

Style

Need style update on the new main page. Jonah? Maybe shades of purple rather than the greens for the boxes? FreshBoy 17:17, 14 March 2007 (EDT)

Can we use a background image via CSS for the box headings? (Jonah 18:33, 14 March 2007 (EDT))
not sure if we can use images this way... Not sure we want to-will add time to page loading. Also, this looks great on my BlackBerry, images probably won't, though. First successful BlackBerry edit. FreshBoy 20:46, 14 March 2007 (EDT)

Empty Pages

I think we need to stop making essentially empty pages for broken links. I think seeing the red links is effective to get people to post content. I agree with posting templated pages as was done with the chapter pages, but I am all for leaving pages without content until there is something of substance to have in them. i.e. a region page saying this is a region page is counter productive in my opinion. (Jonah 18:15, 14 March 2007 (EDT))

Style Manual and Editing Quick Reference

Anyone want to develop these? If not, I say we take them down as not to confuse any new comers to the site looking for information on how to edit content. (Jonah 15:59, 13 April 2007 (EDT))

I'll work on the style manual--I'm thinkin' we're starting to need it. FreshBoy 11:56, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
