'Haiti Week' gives relief on one-month anniversary of earthquake disaster (WM.edu - 10 February 2010)
Hosted by William & Mary Supports Haiti, a student-run umbrella organization of more than 11 student organizations, all benefits from this week's activities will be donated towards the University of Fondwa, a post-secondary institution catering to Haiti's rural poor that was demolished during the Jan. 17 earthquake that struck the island nation. William & Mary Supports Haiti is made up of such student groups as service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, the Student Assembly, and honor fraternity Phi Sigma Pi (ΓΨ), among others.

Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton to Receive Excellence in Leadership Award at 3rd Annual Banquet (PRLog - 3 February 2010)

Student organization hosts on-campus drive for Haiti (The Temple News Online - 25 January 2010)
On Jan. 25, the Haitian Student Organization hosted a university-wide collection to benefit the victims of the earthquake. Volunteers accepted food, medical, baby and hygienic supplies as the collection ran from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers collected, boxed, and prepared the supplies for shipment as students and faculty made their donations to the cause. Joining the HSO’s efforts, other organizations committed to helping with the collection, including Phi Sigma Pi (ΑΛ), Main Campus Programming Board and Student Activities.

Phi Sigma Pi sponsors comedy competition (kentnewsnet.com - 4 December 09)
Tomorrow, the Kent State chapter of Phi Sigma Pi will host a comedy competition. The event will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in the Kiva, and all proceeds will benefit Teach for America. "We believe everyone deserves a good education and the chance to shape their own future," said Mary Brodland (ΒΒ), senior general studies major and chair of the comedy competition event. "We need help supporting these low-income children and giving them a chance to rise to their full potential."

Conboy is pre-med and said the medical research component of the event was one reason she got involved. The other - and more important motivation - is her seven-year-old cousin who died of cancer.

Over 700 volunteers united forces Monday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy as a part of Hands on Northeast Georgia's day of service. While some groups hauled mulch, pulled weeds and built a sandbox for the school's Pre-K, others hung red, white and blue streamers from classroom doors. "The connection [between Martin Luther King and Barack Obama] speaks for itself," said Emily Baggett (ΒΖ), as she reached up to secure some patriotic ornaments. Baggett, a junior from Warner Robbins, volunteered with her fraternity, Phi Sigma Pi.

Dr. Dylan Thaxton, M.D. (ΓΛ), will be joining Dr. Burton at the Malvern Diagnostic Clinic. Thaxton was born and raised in Malvern and is a 1997 graduate of Malvern High School. Since 2001, Thaxton has been committed to come back to Malvern to practice medicine after receiving assistance for medical school from the Community Match Program.

The purpose of the event was two-fold, not only to entertain but to benefit a cause. Phi Sigma Pi (ΒΝ) donated the proceeds to its national philanthropy, Teach for America. Adam Berry (ΒΔ) stayed at Lee Field for more than 16 hours -- six of which were spent walking around the field to keep his team, Phi Sigma Pi, eligible to complete the Relay.
