Whitney Acosta (born 13 December 1987) is an Alumni of Delta Iota Chapter at New Mexico State University.

Early Fraternity Life and Career

After graduating from Farmington High in May 2006, she began attending New Mexico State University in the fall of 2006. She heard about this honor fraternity from a friend and thought it would be a great organization to be a part of. She needed something to keep her busy and also to be more involved on campus as well as in her new community. She decided to rush Phi Sigma Pi in the fall of 2007. After a successful initiation semester, she became a Brother in November 2007 of the Delta Iota Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi. She had an active membership and since has enjoyed the benefits of being an alumni.

Collegiate Years at Delta Iota Chapter

Her first active semester, spring 2007 in the Delta Iota Chapter, Whitney was elected the Service Committee Chair. She saw it as a challenge, but also an opportunity to see what she was capable of. By the end of the that semester, she was excited to see what other positions she would be able to take on.

Whitney is currently the Initiate Advisor of Delta Iota Chapter. She is also the Co-Chair of the T-Shirt and Pubic Relations Committees and the chair of the Service Committee. These positions keep her busy but she likes all of them. She learns much more about the fraternity that way. She likes being involved in more than one area. She enjoys looking for volunteering opportunities in the city of Las Cruces for her chapter to participate in. It opens her eyes to see how many different ways there are to help out in a community.

She attended WICKED 2008 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was the first interaction she'd had with any of the other chapters of Phi Sigma Pi in the Southwest region. She expects to continue to attend WICKED because it was a great learning experience and it was a chance to get to know students and alumni in other chapters.

Bigs and Littles

Whitney's Big Brother is Angela Frausto, who is currently Delta Iota's Vice President (doing an awesome job!). Angela is currently attending NMSU and working at the Pan American Center. Whitney had one little during her membership, Cecily Marroquin.
