Zeta Iota Awards

There are five awards Zeta Iota gives out. Four of the awards are given only to seniors. The other award is the Chapter Service Key.

Senior Awards

Sophia

This award is given to a senior who best embodies scholarship throughout his/her career as a brother of Zeta Iota.

Philia

This award is given to a senior who best embodies fellowship throughout his/her career as a brother of Zeta Iota.

Sally Siebert Award

This award is given to a senior best embodies the complete tripod: scholarship, leadership, and fellowship throughout his/her career as a brother of Zeta Iota. This award was created in 2014. It is named after our founder, Sally Siebert.

Chapter Awards

These awards given out to any brother or alumni. They don't have to be a senior.

Chapter Service Key

The Chapter Service Key award was created in 2014 for Zeta Iota. The requirements are that you must be nominated by the chapter and get 75% vote of the Chapter. You don't have to be a senior to win the award. This award can be given out to any inactive, alumni, active, or honorary brother.

• Nick Conway

Nick Conway was a part of the Charter class at Zeta Iota. As soon as he became a Brother, he wanted to serve right away. He first served as Inter-Chapter Relations Chair and Regional Delegate. Nick was responsible for the service component of Regional Conference. He planned an event where Brothers could write inspiring letters to patients in children's hospitals. At Zeta Iota’s next elections, Nick ran for Historian and won. As Historian, Nick implemented several new things to the Chapter such as photos of the month, Brother of the month, and the chapter composite. The next semester, the Vice President of the chapter stepped down. Nick right away ran for the position. He got elected Vice President, and implemented new ideas such as online attendance and make biweekly chair meetings. Then he ran for President and got elected. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the President at the time was forced to immediately step down, causing Nick to serve as acting President for the remainder of the semester. He had no transition to this position; however, one would not know that. As President, he helped revamp disciplinary actions and attendance policy in operating policy and bylaws. He also insisted plan of action forms that required all events to be pre-approved by the Chapter. He also changed the way probation was handled in the chapter by allowing Brothers to be fully informed on why they were going to be put probation and the Brother a chance to explain their excuse. He made Executive Board more transparent by sending out their minutes. Lastly, he created an Open Forum section during Chapter meetings so that Brothers could discuss issues. This greatly helped Brother apathy. After President, Nick helped plan Zeta Iota’s first campus wide event, a dodgeball tournament that raised awareness for Multiple Sclerosis while donating to the National MS Society. He helped fundraise through local businesses. In all, the event raised $1,300. In his three years as a Brother of Zeta Iota, Nick has only missed one Chapter meeting. He is A fully committed Brother who was always available for anyone or anything that needed assistance.
