Early Fraternity Life and Career
I fell in love with JMU that fall day in 1994 when my dad decided to stop on our way to visit Virginia Tech. I didn't want "taint" my VT visit with another school, but he HAD to check it out because we could see there was a football game. It was that perfect blue sky, red-and-yellow leave day on campus. I was hooked. I enjoyed my freshman year just meeting people and figuring out college life. When the letter about a new fraternity arrived in January 1995, I figured I'd check out this thing called Phi Sigma Pi. Little did I know it would change my life! I was inducted with our charter class on February 26, 1995 in Harrison Hall. The earliest days are a haze, but it was confusing and exciting at the same time.
Near the end of 1995, we had to have officer elections again: our President, Tara Weideman, was graduating. No one would nominate themselves or anyone else for the office, so we moved on to all the other offices. Then we went back to President. I whispered to my friend, Anne Stangel, "I can't believe no one will do this!" Next thing I know, Anne's hand is in the air and I'm the only person nominated. So that's how I became President.

Since I'm a charter member, I don't have a Big Brother. I have two Littles: Sandy Wright (Beta) and Kristen Painter (Delta). I now have a massive family tree that I can't really even begin to comprehend.
