Early Fraternity Life and Career

I decided to attend Central Michigan University as my choice for college due to two factors. Out of all the colleges I got applied and accepted for, Central Michigan University offered to lower my tuition from out-of-state to in-state. Also, I wanted to experience the four seasons, especially fall and winter, which were lacking coming from a tropical island. My first semester as a freshman was really interesting as I began to explore university's life and make some friends with people who share my interests. I found it fitting that the University picked a roommate that shared my interest in astronomy. Although, I was ignorant to know that the dorm I chose did not open all year round. Luckily, I had some family I did not even know about to stay with in the holidays here at Michigan. Classes were pretty much interesting and not too difficult at first. I managed to be on the President's List. Second semester as a freshman was more difficult as I began to focus more on my major, which is hard. Indeed, only a few students in Central Michigan University have decided to take physics majors, which I can understand. Yet, I will preserve in my field of study. My first semester as a sophomore was a bit more accommodating and less stressful as I had fewer but nonetheless difficult classes for my major. This was also the time I rushed into Phi Sigma Pi. The fraternity was the only one that made contact to me by email and I chose to become a brother as it fits my desired qualities of a organization I wanted to be in. Part of my decision in joining Phi Sigma Pi was that I wanted to become a more social person, but at the same time become more involved in the community and advance in my academics while having some fun. In the end, I managed to become a brother by the help of my big Kelsey. I love the activities we did during initiation such as racking leaves, putting golf, and bowling which were activities I had never done before. Although, I feel as if I have not become more managable with my time, which I will have to be more careful coming next semester. Being a brother, while it may have numerous responsibilities, can be rewarding in the end.
