From PhiSigmaPiWiki

During the spring, SAAC particpiated in the Hershey Bar War again this year against Epsilon Xi.

January 2014: SAAC began a new year with a good old fashion game night. Everyone enjoyed a night of fellowship filled with Cards Against Humanity and a potluck of finger food. Prior to the night's festivities, members met for the first meeting of the semester to elect officers, discuss upcoming events, and set goals for the year.

February 2014: For the February scholarship event, SAAC hosted a regional Leadership in Action module titled "Succession Planning: Developing Rising Stars". Collegiate Members within SAAC's region were invited. Members of SAAC and Epsilon Xi were in attendance and learned a lot about identifying leadership in others, how to apply this identification in our Chapters, and developed plans toward leadership development. Afterwards, SAAC Members enjoyed an early dinner and monthly meeting at Ruby Tuesday.

March 2014: March is a service event month for SAAC. SAAC Members are participating in several service projects tied with several regional conference events; therefore, a single service event will not be planned.

April 2014: There was not an official April event for SAAC. However, SAAC was recognized in the month of April for winning the Hershey Bar War for the second year in a row!

May 2014/June 2014: Due to traveling commitments of SAAC Members, there were no events during the month of May or June.

July 2014: SAAC's event for July was a social event of a picnic-style get together. SAAC Members and potential Members gathered at Buffalo Mountain Park. In true SAAC fashion, it was a potluck dinner with hamburgers and hot dogs. It was a great event to have everyone back together and catching up. During this event, Members took the opportunity to discuss the upcoming National Convention (specifically the Grand Chapter amendments and National Council Candidates) and events for the rest of the calendar year. In addition to the event in July, SAAC sent six Members to National Convention in Atlanta!

August 2014: August was a service event month for SAAC. Members met at the VA Community Living Center (CLC) at Mountain Home, Tennessee to distribute activities flyers, water, and talk to the veterans who reside there. After spending a couple of hours at the CLC, SAAC held a meeting at Empire Chinese buffet (no exactly potluck, but there was still quite a variety of food) to discuss an upcoming election and upcoming events, including a MTAC/Retreat.

September 2014: For September's event, SAAC planned a scholarship event at the Bays Mountain Planetarium. Members participated in a solar viewing presentation using the telescopes at Bays Mountain with special sun lenses. After the solar viewing, Brothers participated in a show featuring Ghost Particles which includes information about how scientists use the data detected to learn more about stars and black holes. After the event, SAAC Members went to a local restaurant to enjoy dinner and hold an official meeting.

October 2014: October was a month of traveling for SAAC. The first weekend of the month, Brothers traveled to Chattanooga, TN to meet Brothers from MTAC for a retreat. It was a fun filled weekend of games, exploring Chattanooga, and eating! The next weekend, Members traveled to the Alpha Xi Chapterfor an Alumni event. The fourth weekend of the month, Members traveled to the Gamma Zeta Chapter to participate in the university's homecoming tailgating event that they held for Alumni. MTAC SAAC Retreat 2014.jpg

The October was a social event month for SAAC. SAAC held one of their famous potlucks on the night of Halloween prior to the Epsilon Xi Chapter's Alumni event which consisted of a costume party, food, and dancing.

November 2014: SAAC held two events during the month of November. For their scholarship event, SAAC came together for an International food potluck. Members brought dishes from a country/culture for other Brothers to taste. Along with the dish, each Brother brought a card that contained why they picked the dish, why it is special to them, and a recipe. At the end of the evening, Brothers were given a binder with a copy of all of the cards as a keepsake. Later in the month, SAAC Members went to see The Mockingjay: Part 1 in theaters to continue their tradition of seeing the movies as a group.

December 2014: December was a service event month for SAAC. Members met in Kingsport, TN to assist in the preparing the Kingsport Carousel, a project sponsored by Engage Kingsport. Members helped by painting two panels of the upper portion of the carousel. The project manager was thrilled that we were able to come out and help move the project along. Afterwards, Members ate at a local restaurant and spent additional time together by going to see a movie.
