Cassandra I. Gomez (born 08 22 1989) is an Alumni Member of Delta Iota Chapter at New Mexico State University.

Pre-Delta Iota Life

Cassandra Gomez was born in Carlsbad, NM. Her family moved to Las Cruces, NM in 2005. She attended Las Cruces High School and was on the varsity cheerleading competition teams her junior and senior years. After graduating high school in 2007, she attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Following her graduation from AMDA, she wanted to further her education. She attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs for the 2009-2010 school year, then decided to return to her roots in New Mexico for the completion of her degree.

Collegiate Years at New Mexico State University

Cassandra spent the first 2 years of her time at NMSU trying to decide on a major. After a lot of back and forth and soul searching she saw a news story about the CIA looking to recruit women. She did some research and discovered that one of her passions, history, was also a major commonly accepted in federal agencies. Thats when she made the switch and went on to pursue her degree in history. In the Spring of 2012, she received an e-mail from the recruiters at Delta Iota advertising the group. She decided to join the group...and the rest you can say, is history! S

Cassandra quickly bonded with her Chi Initiate Class partner, Megan Murray and fell in love with all things Phi Sigma Pi Delta Iota. Towards the end of her first semester, Cassandra decided that she wanted to take her role in PSP DI to another level and ran for and was elected Vice President for the Fall 2012 semester. When the President of the Chapter, Erika Ponce graduated in December 2012, Cassandra was elected President for Spring 2013.

Unfortunately, in-fighting and unnecessary drama caused by some members of the group caused Cassandra to start to lose love for PSP DI and for the Fall 2013 semester, Cassandra decided to take a step back from DI to enjoy her final semester of college. She remained active, but was not as heavily involved as she had been during her previous semesters. Cassandra graduated from NMSU with honors December 2013.

Alumni Years to Present

Cassandra graduated in December 2013 with her Bachelors of Arts in History. She went on to attend Grand Canyon University where she obtained her Masters of Public Administration in 2016. She was married in December 2018 and had a daughter, Zia, born in 2022. Cassandra currently resides in New Orleans, LA where she works as an investigator for a federal agency (although she is quick to make note that it is not the CIA).
