Mike Lash (born 02 07 1986) is an Alumni Member of Kappa Chapter (Chapter roll #) at California University of Pennsylvania.

Early Fraternity Life and Career

After graduating from Monaca High School in Monaca, Pennsylvania, Mike Lash decided to attend California University of Pennsylvania where he majored in English/Literature. In his junior year, he joined Phi Sigma Pi after several close friends and Brothers recommended it. The idea of an honorary Fraternity that prided itself on high values appealed to him. In Spring 2008, Mike earned his bid and during his Initiation period, service as Initiate Class Vice-President. He was Inducted into Kappa Chapter with the Alpha Pi Mu Initiate Class on (date?).

Collegiate Years at Sample Chapter

During Mike's years with Kappa Chapter as an Active Brother, he held a high attendance and strived to bring more event ideas to the Chapter. He continually participated in Rush events including Rush barbecues and Table Hours on campus. He continually worked on Public Relations, having the California University of Pennsylvania's Lions Club co-sponsor a Homecoming float with Kappa Chapter. Mike served as Brother at Large at Kappa Chapter in his third semester as a Brother. Also during his third semester as a Brother, he served as Inter-Chapter/PR Committee Chair. Mike also aided the Social Committee in planning our Winter formal. Mike spent his time as Brother at Large helping develop more tools to help Brothers communicate with each other such as an anonymous email account where Brothers could document any disagreements they may have with the Chapter or specific members without potentially causing conflict.

Outside of the Chapter, Mike served offices within a number of other clubs and organizations. He was the President and currently Immediate Past President of Lions Club, Vice-President of Inter-Residence Hall Council, Carter Hall Council Advisor, Secretary, treasurer, and President of Sigma Tau Delta Honorary English Society and a Peer Instructor within the University Bands. Additionally, he was a Community Assistant in Carter Hall. Mike utilizes his connections on campus to constantly spread good Public Relations towards prospect Brothers. During his final year at California, Mike took a drop in attendance and went inactive for his final semester to focus on helping his family repair and sell his father's house whom had past away from lung cancer during his freshman year.

Mike not only traveled to other Chapters and event such as Brother Bowl at Penn State, but he also has made many close friends from other Chapters such as Jamie Swango from Slippery Rock University.

Alumni Years to Present

After graduating from California University of Pennsylvania in May 2010, Mike moved to Conway, South Carolina to work and save money for graduate school at either University of South Carolina or Indiana University of Pennsylvania (currently undecided) in approximately one year. Currently, he is speaking with students and administrators at Coastal Carolina University with regards to starting a Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi.

While far from Kappa Chapter, Mike has still attempted to aide them in their efforts to grow including speaking with former residents and prospective Brothers about Intiation.
