After one semester of vanilla college, Tracy decided that she wanted to meet people more like herself and be more involved in college life. During her second semester of college, she accepted an invitation from the Alpha Sigma chapter to attend their Tripod Week events, leading her to befriend several of the Brothers.

Tracy has won several journalism awards, including first place in the Hearst Multimedia Competition in 2009 and second place in the Society of Professional Journalists' Region II Mark of Excellence competition. She has interned at WTVR in Richmond, Virginia, Clear Channel Radio, and NBC Nightly News in Washington D.C..
