  • Given that most Teachers Colleges were becoming four-year liberal arts State Colleges, Phi Sigma Pi amended its Constitution at the 1962 National Convention in Washington, D. C. to include liberal arts students and liberal arts colleges. This action began a movement away from the traditional focus on teachers and teacher-training institutions.
