- After almost 3 years of negotiations, Phi Sigma Pi rejoins the Professional Fraternity Association, the coeducational descendent of the defunct all-male Professional Interfraternity Conference. Phi Sigma Pi was forced to relinquish its membership in 1966 when it left its teacher education focus to become an Honor Fraternity.

- February 7 - Beta Epsilon is founded at Syracuse University
March
- March 7 - Beta Zeta is founded at University of Georgia
- March 29 - Beta Eta is founded at Lock Haven University
July
- July 16-18 - The first summer Grand Chapter meeting is held at Millersville University in Pennsylvania
- July 18 - Dr. Richard C. Todd passes away at the age of 78. The Fraternity and East Carolina University mourn the loss
September
- September 28 - Beta Theta is founded at Wright State University
