Alex Ward (born 12 August 1987) is an Active Member of Beta Epsilon Chapter (BE 481) at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.

Early Fraternity Life and Career

Alex left his hometown of Tucker, Georgia to brave the cold of Syracuse University in the Fall of 2005. On his second day of college, Alex met Bethany Post, and the two were fast friends. The next semester, Bethany became a Brother of Phi Sigma Pi, and through her, Alex was introduced to the organization. Following her advice, Alex joined the Beta Epsilon Chapter in Fall 2006 with the Alpha Delta class. In his first active semester as a Brother, Alex served on the Historical Committee and became a Big Brother to Sam Long. He belongs to the La Familia Line of the ever expanding Bender Family.

Collegiate Years in Beta Epsilon Chapter

During his time as a committee member, Alex contributed to his Chapter's monthly publication, The Slice. Also, he designed and built Beta Epsilon's Chapter Website. It was his dedication to Chapter history/communication that led him to run for the position of Historian for the 2007-2008 academic year. As Historian, Alex outlined numerous goals that would reinvigorate the position of Historian within his Chapter. He wanted to revamp The Slice making it more text-driven and to be a tool to keep BE Alumni informed of Chapter progress as well as a tool in recruitment of potential Brothers. He also worked to turn the website into a valuable tool for the benefit of both active Beta Epsilon Brothers and Alumni. During his tenure as Historian, Alex, alongside then President Lisa Thalhamer, co-chaired a temporary committee related to Chapter and Fraternity Rituals with the goal of ensuring accuracy, promoting awareness, and cutting down on apathy.

During the Spring of 2008, Alex became Big Brother to Kanha Bou of the Alpha Eta Class.

Following the 2007-2008 academic year, Beta Epsilon had yet to elect a new Historian, and Alex opted to serve as interim Historical Committee Chair until a new officer could be installed. During this time he also served as a member of the Initiation Committee.
