Early Fraternity Life and Career

Phi Sigma Pi sparked Alice's interested when she received a personal invitation to attend a Rush information session in the Spring of her Sophomore year at Rutgers University. After attending various Rush events with her friend and colleague Michelle Derer, she decided to become an initiate. She soon after became an Active Member of the Upsilon Class of Alpha Theta in the Spring of 2007 and has been a dedicated Brother of the Fraternity ever since. Alice went on to serve on the Executive Council (2007-2008) and Executive Board (2008-2009) before graduating in the Spring of 2009.

While serving as the Service Chair on the Executive Council, Alice headed various significant service projects within the Chapter. For Phi Sigma Pi's national philanthropy Teach for America, Alpha Theta conducted a Backpack Drive, sending boxes of new backpacks and school supplies to the national headquarters in Florida. The Chapter also conducted a Thanksgiving Basket Drive, donating dozens of baskets to the local community of New Brunswick for less fortunate families. For Elijah’s Promise Bag Meal Program, Brothers came together at her own apartment, which she shared with Brothers Victoria Raab and Michelle Derer, and bagged over 100 bag meals to donate to New Brunswick's local soup kitchen Elijah's Promise.

Teach for America: We gathered new backpacks and school supplies and sent them to our national headquarters in Florida to benefit less than fortunate students who may not have such supplies  Thanksgiving Basket Drive: We gathered food donations and donated our own from our budget to make holiday baskets for less fortunate families in our local community of New Brunswick to be able to enjoy a decent holiday  Elijah’s Promise Bag Meal Program: Members gathered at my apartment in April of this year to pack more than 100 bag meals for families that get meals on the go from Elijah’s Promise in New Brunswick  New Brunswick Clothing Drive: We donated more than 30 bags of clothes to the local Elijah’s Promise in New Brunswick, as well as to the Salvation Army  Walk for Literacy: To raise literacy awareness in our local community, we partook in a walk that spanned through downtown George Street, from the Douglass Campus Center to Brower Commons on College Avenue  Blood Drive: Held in the middle of our AIDS Awareness Week which we hosted as a Fraternity for the Rutgers and New Brunswick community, we helped raise awareness about AIDS and lured in blood donors for the New Jersey Blood Services  New Brunswick George Street Clean-Up: The day after Rutgers Fest 2008, members of the Fraternity gathered at Douglass Campus Center to pick up trash along George Street all the way to Rockoff Hall. We ended up collecting about 15 bags of trash in that short distance alone.
