The Gamma Pi Chapter Freedom Family, is a segment of the Gamma Pi chapter who formed with the merging of three family lines.

Family History

The Freedom Family was formed on the Light Rail in the Fall of 2013. At the time, the DTF Family and the Flame Family both only had two members each, and the Fish Family was very small. They decided to merge lines to combat the fact that the other families in Gamma Pi were so large.

The Freedom Family was named in honor of the Founding Fathers of this great country. Just like the Thirteen Colonies before them, these six brothers broke away from their lines to form a new family. The mascot of the Freedom Family is John Hancock.

Family Insignia

Family Letters: It took the Freedom Family many weeks to decide on their letters. In the end they decided on navy blue t-shirt, white primary letters on red background letters. These colors represent the true yankee nature of the Freedom Family.

Family Food: The Freedom Family enjoys fro-yo.

Family Song: Party in the U.S.A. by Miley Cyrus

Family Constitution:

  • All littles will get Freedom Family letter shirts upon Initiation.
  • Small flags on sticks will be given to littles during Big/Little Reveal.
  • John Hancock is our founding father and will be featured in family photos or at least honored in some way since he is da bomb dot com.
  • During family dates, small flags will be put in the picture of proof that we had a brotherhood date.
  • Family names will be combined with American themes: Flame family will have sexual and American names, and so on and so forth.
  • A large American flag will be purchased by the founders of the Freedom Family aka all of us cool cats and the cost will be split between us. This flag will be used for family pictures and big little pictures during Reveal and during Initiation.
