Kayla Newberg decided to attend Virginia Commonwealth University in the fall of 2007 after graduating from Mount Olive High School in Flanders, New Jersey because it was as far away from her hometown as her mother would possibly allow her to go. Kayla was looking for an organization that would allow her to connect with other people while at the same time helping the community. She found Phi Sigma Pi in the Spring of 2008 as a second semester Freshman and brought her best friend Alisha Kellam to rush with her.
