Marcus Hosteen (born October 28) is an Active Collegiate Member of the Delta Iota Chapter of Phi Sigma Phi National Honor Fraternity at New Mexico State University [1].

Early Fraternity Life and Career

Marcus Hosteen was born in Cortez, Colorado but grew up in Shiprock, New Mexcio. He attended Shiprock High School in Shiprock, New Mexico and graduated on May 22, 2010 at the top of his class, Valedictorian with a 4.067 GPA. During his time at Shiprock High School Marcus was elected to the Student Council where he served as the Student Council Treasurer and Representative before being elected Student Body President in 2007 and served an unprecedented 3 terms. Marcus also worked at the Office of Navajo Nation Scholaship and Financial Assistance (ONNSFA) where he decided that he wanted to attend New Mexico State University and after graduating from Shiprock High School received the Chief Manueltio scholarship from the Navajo Nation.

He came to New Mexico State University because of scholarship money and it was the furthest he could get away from home while still remaining in New Mexico. For his first year Marcus focused mostly on his classes but by his second year got involved in a lot of student organizations. It was during this time that Marcus first heard of Phi Sigma Pi and after meeting with Cynthia Mondragon,the Recruitment Advisor she convinced him to give the Fraternity a chance. Marcus' Big Brother during his initiate process was Travis D. Gee. Marcus successfully completed the Initiation Process was inducted into the Fraternity in Fall 2011.

Collegiate Years at the Delta Iota Chapter

Marcus is a Crimson Scholar at New Mexico State University with a cumulative GPA of 3.7. Each semester Marcus takes on a full load of courses, and on occasion has tackled 21 credit hours.


Marcus works at several on campus offices including:

  • Corbett Center Student Union (2010-2011)
  • The American Indian Program (2011)
  • Student Success Center/Campus Tutoring Center (2011-2012)
  • Education Research and Budgeting Office in the College of Education (2012-present)


Marcus is involved in a number of university organizations, at one point the number of organizations he was part of was 15

Currently he is actively involved in 7 organizations including Phi Sigma Pi and they include:

  • Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society - Currently serving as the President (2012-2013) and has served as the Arts & Science Council Liaison (2011-2012)
  • Gamma Beta Phi Society - Currently serving as the Treasurer
  • Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization - Served as the Chapter Treasurer (2011-2012)
  • National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) - Served as the Vice President of Community Service (2011-2012)
  • Native American Business Student Association (NABSA) - Served as the Vice President but resigned due to internal conflicts (2012)
  • United Native American Organization (UNAO) - Served as the Vice President but resigned due to internal conflicts (2012)

National Involvement

Marcus attended the WICKED Regional Conference in Phoenix, Arizona in February 2012.

Marcus has plans to attended the WICKED Regional Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico in March 2013

Currently Marcus plans to the attend the National Convention in 2013 which will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Marcus' Big is Travis D. Gee, he was his third Little.

Marcus has two sibling, Michael Row (Alumni) and Roxanne De Luna (Alumni)
