Amanda Davis (born 14 April 1989) is an Active Member of Alpha Sigma Chapter (ΑΣ 296) at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Early Fraternity Life and Career

Well Amanda began VCU in the Fall of 2008. She decided to go to VCU because it was close to home, and she could still get a four year degree. Plus at VCU she could get her Masters in Teaching for Early and Elementary Education. She heard of Phi Sigma Pi in her Spring 09 Semester through an email and she saw them in the Commons. At the time, she decided that she would hold off on joining, because she could not attend the Rush events. When she moved out to VCU the next semester (Fall 2009) she looked for Phi Sigma Pi because she was really interested in joining. She ended up getting inducted by the end of the Fall 2009 semester. She chose PSP over other Greek Life because she knew she was not a sorority kind of girl, and it seemed like an awesome way to get involved on campus as well as experience Greek Life in an environment with which she was comfortable. Joining PSP is one of the best things she could have done. She loves her PSP family!

Collegiate Years at Alpha Sigma Chapter

Fall 2009---Psi Class Scholarship Committee--I was basically the leader of the group even though we do not have chairs as initiates. Our event was "College Cooking". We made a cookbook with some recipes that are easy for students from a couple of "College Cooking" cookbooks (with credit of course). We brought some of the recipes into a coffee hour that happened right before the Brotherhood meeting one week.

Spring 2010---Service Co-Chair with Laura Li. The committee held four events that semester: a Teach for America supply drive, Buckets of Hope for Haiti, Relay for Life at VCU Chapter Team, and volunteered for an Easter event at Maymont Park.

Goal: To be Initiate Adviser before I leave. I'd like to leave some mark on the fraternity and I feel that being Initiate Adviser is the way for me to do it.

Alumni Years to Present

Amanda became an alumni when she became a graduate student in the Spring of 2011. The first semester she remained active with Alpha Sigma Chapter. She also attended National Convention that summer.

National Involvement

Amanda attended the 2011 National Convention from August 5-7 2011 in Washington, D.C.

Other Interesting Facts

• Before attending VCU, Amanda spent a semester at Longwood University and a semester at John Tyler Community College. So her first three semesters of college were at three different institutions.
• Amanda was a Theatre geek in high school. A techie and she did some acting. She was stage manager for two productions and a talent show.
• Amanda is considering continuing her education to get certified in Theatre Education once she is finished with her current schooling to become an Elementary School teacher.
