Emily Martorano (born 27 August 1986) is an Alumnus of Gamma Xi Chapter (ΓΞ 229) at Drexel University.

Early Fraternity Life and Career

After graduating from Burlington Township High School in Burlington, NJ, Emily decided to attend Drexel University because of its well known co-op program and location in the heart Philadelphia. Emily first received a letter inviting her to join Phi Sigma Pi in the spring term of her freshman year (2005). She attended one of the rush events held by the Chapter, but did not take the event seriously and was not extended a bid. The following fall term, Emily began dating Patrick Smith, who was rushing Phi Sigma Pi at the time. As she began to learn about Phi Sigma Pi and socialize with many Brothers through Patrick, she realized it was a group she wanted to be a part of. She threw herself into the rush process the following spring term, one full year after first learning about the group, was extended a bid and has never looked back. She was inducted as part of the Sigma Class on June 11, 2006.

Collegiate Years at Gamma Xi Chapter

Emily has been very active with the Gamma Xi Chapter. She served as the 2007-2008 Recording Secretary, 2007-2008 Awards Committee Chair, the 2008-2009 President and the 2008 National Convention Chapter delegate. She has also helped fill in for several positions (such as Rush Advisor and Regional Delegate) that were left vacant due to resignations. She also served as the Brotherhood and Awards Committee Chair for the Spring 2009 term.

While serving as Chapter President, Emily completely rewrote the Chapter risk management policy, which had previously been a 1.5 page document that no one ever read. The new document is much more expansive and better helps the Chapter manage any risk. She also brought up a long series of bylaw and operating policy amendments, focused on updating the documents to reflect how the Chapter really operated, as the documents hadn't had an overhaul in quite a few years.

Alumni Years to Present

Emily currently works as an engineer at Merck & Co. in West Point, PA. She is a member of the NAA and recently started a scholarship program with the Gamma Xi Chapter that pays an active Brothers dues for the term.
