Stephanie Mathias (born 5 Oct. 1988) is an Collegiate Member Member of Beta Beta Chapter at Kent State University.

Early Fraternity Life and Career

Stephanie decided to rush in the fall of 2008 after an older brother convinced her it was the best decision she would ever make. Stephanie was very involved on campus already: promotions team member for the radio station, member of PRSSA and a "Week of Welcome" leader. She was in her sophomore year at Kent State University as a public relations major when she rushed and her class had 3 people in it.

A class that small was a daunting task at first as each initiate was to hold 2 positions. Stephanie was the secretary and service chair. Stephanie quickly made friends with the older brothers, several of which are now mentors in her day-to-day life. Her big, Bria Nelko also helped her through her initiate semester. After being activated, Stephanie was on the public relations committee for the spring 2009 semester.

Collegiate Years at Sample Chapter

As a public relations major, there was never another position that appealed to Stephanie. In the spring of 2009, Stephanie was elected as the Public Relations Chair for the 2009-2010 school year.

As the fall semester is always the most difficult to recruit during, Stephanie knew she had to start early. Stephanie worked with the university to obtain addresses for students on campus. The chapter also set up a table at the "Back to School Blast-off" to get the word out about Phi Sigma Pi. The fall rush class end up having 12 initiates, a huge difference from Stephanie's rush class of three. Stephanie also got donations for t-shirts so the Chapter could be unified during rush events.

In the spring of 2010, Stephanie knew the exact steps to make a successful rush program. She sent out letters to people on campus and the rush classes ended up bring in 12 people, 10 of which were activated. T-shirt again were completely sponsored so the Chapter could be unified.

Also in the spring of 2010, Stephanie was elected to be the delegate for Grand Chapter. Stephanie also received Brother of Year for the Beta Beta Chapter and Most Dedicated Brother for the Beta Beta Chapter in 2010. She received a Chapter Service Key in 2010 as well.

National Involvement

The Beta Beta Chapter was in the Allegheny Region and Stephanie participated in the regional conference both years. She is very excited to be involved with the National Development Committee.

Bigs and Littles

Stephanie's Big Brother is Bria Nelko who is a senior at Kent State University in the Interior Design program.

Stephanie has the best little ever, Jennifer Shore, a junior magazine journalism major. Jennifer and Stephanie clicked automatically as both are journalism majors and enjoy making Brother's days brighter.
