Early Fraternity Life and Career
Zachary Davis began to attend Cornell University in 2008. In Spring Semester, he attended a Phi Sigma Pi information session, and decided to rush. As an initiate, he served on the Spirit Committee, helping to plan an initiate awards ceremony and baking cookies for Study Hours. As a first semester brother, he served on the Rush/Initiation committee. That semester, the committee planned a Big/Little Newlywed Game, complete with cheesy 70s game show music. That same semester, he ran for and gained the position of Treasurer on the 2010 Executive Board.
As Chapter Treasurer, Zachary made his primary goal transparency of the position. He implemented the ICE (Inform, Collaborate, and Explain) system of budgeting in an attempt to improve collaboration between the Treasurer and Committee Chairs. During this period, he served on the Big Event ad-hoc committee (Spring 2010) and the Spirit committee (Fall 2010) in addition to serving on the Fundraising committee each semester.
During Spring 2011, Zachary served as Spirit Chair, planning a host of informal events, as well as that semester's brotherhood retreat. His committee's goals were to increase the sense of family between brothers by encouraging them to interact outside of formal events and to make the new initiate class feel more welcomed into the family.
Zachary is informally known as Beta Nu Chapter's Biggest Gleek, planning weekly screenings of Glee, complete with homemade pies, slushies, and other delicious treats.
Attended NERC (the Northeast Regional Conference) at Beta Upsilon in Spring 2010, and helped execute an event at NERC in Spring 2011 at Beta Nu.
As National Delegate and Regional Delegate for the 2011-2012 school year, he attended Grand Chapter to represent Beta Nu, and helped to plan NERC for 2012.
